High Schoolers Tour Courthouse, Mingle with Judges and Attorneys for Law Day 2026

ATLANTA (May 11, 2026)—More than a dozen scholars – spanning all grade levels and career interests – from North Springs High School in Sandy Springs recently visited Fulton County Superior Court for Law Day. This year’s Law Day theme was "The Rule of Law and the American Dream." In Superior Court, our theme locally was "Access to Justice."

Our very own deputy administrator for operations and court services, Robin Coggswell, Esq., led the tour. The whirlwind of activities included a Q and A session with Judge Robert C.I. McBurney about Accountability Court. Next, a talk with Judge Rachel R. Krause about her non-traditional path to completing law school in her late 30s. Scholars observed live court proceedings with Judge Emily K. Richardson, and met her service dog, Icee, a graduate of the Canine Companion Program. Lastly, they visited the Justice Resource Center for an in-depth conversation about the many services available to people representing themselves in various family law matters. The tour culminated with all-you-can-eat pizza and donuts for the teens during a lunch-and-learn chat with Chief Magistrate Judge Cassandra Kirk.

“Thank you for providing such an informative, engaging, and educational tour,” said North Springs educator and tour chaperone Sangana William, Ed.S. “It was an outstanding and memorable experience for everyone involved.”
