ATLANTA (October 1, 2026)—In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which kicks off Thursday, October 1, Fulton County Superior Court is sharing important resources available to survivors and ways allies can get involved. People experiencing domestic violence or intimate partner abuse should always call 911 if they are in immediate danger. For detailed information on how to obtain a Temporary Protective Order, visit our website.
The Superior Court Family Division, the only one of its kind in Georgia, handled more than 12,000 cases in 2025 and is growing. The Family Division's One Stop Office is available to assist survivors with questions and resources at 404-613-0505. Allies can show support in several ways, including:
• Wear purple to honor victims, support survivors, and promote healthy relationships.
• Wear Purple Day on Thursday, October 15.
• Family Division staff will wear purple on Friday, October 16.
• Post a picture online wearing purple with the hashtag #DVAM.
Through our partnership with Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF), we are taking help directly to those who need it most through the Standing with Survivors Mobile Advocacy van. Fulton County Manager Richard Anderson and Superior Court Judge Shukura L. Ingram joined as the van made a recent stop in Downtown Atlanta. The mobile van assists survivors by:
• Bringing legal advocacy and support directly to survivors, whether at a grocery store, parking lot, or outreach event.
• Helping survivors navigate protective orders, understand their rights, plan for safety, and connect virtually to the court to ensure safety.
• Connecting survivors with emergency financial assistance, community resources, and ongoing support.
AVLF's Standing with Survivors program helped nearly 600 people in 2025. That number is on track to increase by the end of 2026. You may also get assistance through the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.
